The Other Woman

I'm not normally a very jealous person, but lately I can't help it.

It seems that there is another "woman" in our relationship and no matter what I do, there is no diversion strong enough to win his favor.

For a while, I thought it could be Fairbanks. Now that he is out of the country, it seemed to be Chuck.....again. But neither of these people have the appeal that his current preoccupation holds.

The Xbox is the other woman. Everyday I try, but his gaze is so intent and his attention so focused that even a gun to my head wouldn't pull him away.

I'm willing to bet that if there was a fire and I needed saving, I would be rescued somewhere after the Xbox and the cat; though I can't say which one of them would be first. I am sure it is a choice he hopes he never has to make.

Everyday I am forced to listen to their conversations. Jed has always been more of a listener so at least I don't have to hear his proclamations of love and devotion, but if I hear about capturing command posts or gaining battle stations one more time, I might have to resort to something drastic.

I haven't given up. Perhaps I should buy a Darth Vadar costume. Maybe that would reignite the flame. Or maybe I should insert myself into the filthy volleyball game so at least I can feel part of his world.

Whatever rue I must rely on, I promise that I will not go down without a fight. Maybe that fight will have to involve a light saber, but I will prevail. Oh yes, I will prevail!
