Last Minute Gift

Recently, the mother of one of the girls I tutor gave me a copy of her first published book. I initially read it out of obligation but was surprised to find how intrigued I became. It truly was one of those 'can't put it down' books.

The Doctor's Wife by Elizabeth Brundage is a psychological thriller that centers around the abortion issue. Often, I am turned off by overdone topics, especially those with a heavy political background, but the angle with which she chose to address this was cleverly done and provided for a great read.

Should you need a seriously last minute gift, or you're looking for something good to purchase with a gift certificate, consider this book. I really enjoyed it.

Merry Christmas!!!

Quote of the Day

As many of you know I had the privilage of meeting Fidel Castro (I like to make it seem like we go way back when in reality I just sat in on a speech he gave to Semester at Sea) I found him to be very funny and extremely long winded. It took him about 4 and a half hours to answer two questions.

Courtesy of Carrie I have a great quote that demonstrates his sense of humor. Thanks Carrie!

"It is not a criticism, rather a suggestion that he do some exercises and go on a diet, don't you think? I'm doing this for the gentleman's health."

--Fidel Castro, on describing Flordia Governor Jeb Bush as the U.S. President's "fat little brother"
